MASALA MAKHANA / FOX NUTS

Are you ready for some healthy snack ideas packed with proteins. Here it is 'Makhana' also known as fox nuts or lotus seeds is a great snack which doesn't require any elaborate preparation and has a lot of health benefits (high in Fibre, Proteins, Iron, etc).
Although Makhana is generally used during fasting in India and made in several different ways like prasad, kheer, curry etc, the roasted version is the easiest as you can spice it up anyway you want, store it in an airtight container and have it with your evening tea/coffee or even as a late night snack! 😉
⌚ Prep: 2 minutes Cook: 10 minutes
- INGREDIENTS
🔸1 tbsp - Oil/ Ghee
🔸1 tsp - red chilli powder
🔸1 tsp - turmeric powder
🔸1 tsp - black pepper powder
🔸1 tsp - chaat masala
🔸salt (to taste)
- INSTRUCTIONS
1. Heat oil/ghee in a pan and to this add plain Makhana.
2. Roast the makhana's for a good 10-12 min on low flame till it becomes crispy and crunchy.
3. Add basic spices like Red Chilli Powder, Black Pepper Powder, Turmeric, Salt, Chaat Masala to the pan and toss the makhana into it till it gets coated well.
4. Cool it down and serve/store in an airtight container for later use.
